Professional Journey in Tourism & Hospitality
Mr. Sapkota began his career in Nepal’s tourism industry humbly as a porter, later becoming a government-licensed trekking guide and tour leader. Over the years, his passion for promoting Nepal to the world and creating meaningful travel experiences led him to establish Outshine Adventure Pvt. Ltd., now recognized as one of Nepal’s leading trekking and tour companies.
Expanding into hospitality, he also serves as the Founder and Managing Director of Hotel Kathmandu Suite Home, a boutique three-star property in the heart of Kathmandu, and manages Himalayan Travel Consultant, as well as Sunrise Apartment (Airbnb). Through these ventures, Mr. Sapkota has welcomed thousands of international travelers, sharing Nepal’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and warm hospitality.
Fluent in Nepali, English, Japanese, Spanish, Hindi, and Sanskrit, he is well-regarded for his ability to connect with travelers and partners across cultures, strengthening Nepal’s reputation as a welcoming and diverse travel destination.
Social Commitment & Leadership Roles
While his professional achievements are noteworthy, Mr. Sapkota’s true passion lies in giving back to society. His extensive travels across Nepal exposed him to the hardships of rural life, where many communities still lack access to quality education, healthcare, and opportunities for children and women. These experiences inspired him to dedicate part of his life to social service.
He has held respected leadership roles in Nepal’s NGO sector, including:
Joint Secretary of NGO Federation of Nepal, Kathmandu Branch (2016–2018)
Executive Member of NGO Federation of Nepal (2019–2021)
Elected by member organizations from across the country, he contributed actively to strengthening Nepal’s civil society through this umbrella organization, working on accountability, welfare, and advocacy for NGOs nationwide.
In addition, Mr. Sapkota has been a long-time member of the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), serving as Executive Committee Member and Welfare & Crisis Coordinator, where he helped organize welfare initiatives for workers and communities in need. He was also involved as a founding member of organizations like Youth Campaign for Development and Youth Effort for Society.
Founding Junkiri Nepal
With years of experience in both tourism and social service, and after engaging with NGOs and welfare programs across Nepal, Mr. Sapkota established Junkiri Nepal as an autonomous, independent, and politically non-partisan NGO.
The vision behind Junkiri Nepal is clear: just as a firefly (junkiri) lights up the dark, even small acts of compassion can illuminate lives in need.
The organization focuses on child education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, and welfare programs in marginalized and remote communities. Under his leadership, Junkiri Nepal has also developed networks with international partners and donors, securing support from Europe, America, and beyond for social development programs in Nepal.
Philosophy & Vision
