    Mr. Gokul Sapkota is a seasoned tourism entrepreneur, hospitality professional, and dedicated social worker with decades of experience in Nepal’s travel, tourism, and community development sectors. A graduate in Tourism Management, his professional journey reflects both entrepreneurial success and a deep commitment to social change.

    Professional Journey in Tourism & Hospitality

    Mr. Sapkota began his career in Nepal’s tourism industry humbly as a porter, later becoming a government-licensed trekking guide and tour leader. Over the years, his passion for promoting Nepal to the world and creating meaningful travel experiences led him to establish Outshine Adventure Pvt. Ltd., now recognized as one of Nepal’s leading trekking and tour companies.

    Expanding into hospitality, he also serves as the Founder and Managing Director of Hotel Kathmandu Suite Home, a boutique three-star property in the heart of Kathmandu, and manages Himalayan Travel Consultant, as well as Sunrise Apartment (Airbnb). Through these ventures, Mr. Sapkota has welcomed thousands of international travelers, sharing Nepal’s natural beauty, cultural richness, and warm hospitality.

    Fluent in Nepali, English, Japanese, Spanish, Hindi, and Sanskrit, he is well-regarded for his ability to connect with travelers and partners across cultures, strengthening Nepal’s reputation as a welcoming and diverse travel destination.

    Social Commitment & Leadership Roles

    While his professional achievements are noteworthy, Mr. Sapkota’s true passion lies in giving back to society. His extensive travels across Nepal exposed him to the hardships of rural life, where many communities still lack access to quality education, healthcare, and opportunities for children and women. These experiences inspired him to dedicate part of his life to social service.

    He has held respected leadership roles in Nepal’s NGO sector, including:

    Joint Secretary of NGO Federation of Nepal, Kathmandu Branch (2016–2018)

    Executive Member of NGO Federation of Nepal (2019–2021)

    Elected by member organizations from across the country, he contributed actively to strengthening Nepal’s civil society through this umbrella organization, working on accountability, welfare, and advocacy for NGOs nationwide.

    In addition, Mr. Sapkota has been a long-time member of the Trekking Agencies’ Association of Nepal (TAAN), serving as Executive Committee Member and Welfare & Crisis Coordinator, where he helped organize welfare initiatives for workers and communities in need. He was also involved as a founding member of organizations like Youth Campaign for Development and Youth Effort for Society.

    Founding Junkiri Nepal

    With years of experience in both tourism and social service, and after engaging with NGOs and welfare programs across Nepal, Mr. Sapkota established Junkiri Nepal as an autonomous, independent, and politically non-partisan NGO.

    The vision behind Junkiri Nepal is clear: just as a firefly (junkiri) lights up the dark, even small acts of compassion can illuminate lives in need. 

    The organization focuses on child education, healthcare, women’s empowerment, and welfare programs in marginalized and remote communities. Under his leadership, Junkiri Nepal has also developed networks with international partners and donors, securing support from Europe, America, and beyond for social development programs in Nepal.

    Through Junkiri Nepal, he continues to bridge his professional expertise in tourism and hospitality with his humanitarian mission, ensuring that while visitors to Nepal experience world-class service, local communities also benefit from meaningful opportunities and sustainable support.

    Mr. Hari Shrestha is well stablished and profound knowledge and experience in the tourism field, he is an excellent adventurer and tourism veteran. Beginning his tourism career as a porter in 1998, after few years he became a licensed trekking and climbing guide. He has leaded several trekking and mountaineering groups to many mountains in Nepal. 
     
    Hari has also worked at various NGOs and social organizations for more than 5 years. He is from Netrawati-7, Dhading district of Nepal and always had strong interest dedicating his efforts to do something for society. He develops the strategies on how the contribution to the society can be done and also has assisted in many of our projects in Nepal. With fluency in both English and Nepali, he has visited many places for charity too.

    Sudip belongs from Tanglichock – 3, Gorkha district, Nepal and possess intensive passion for doing something positive for less fortunate children. Sudip witnessed the low living standard of local inhabitants around his village; there were no proper system of education and health.  And his passion towards making the contribution to bring positive change has linked him with various NGOs and social organizations.
     
    Education in particular was what Sudip considered the most important factor for a child’s secure future. Without proper education, a child would be vulnerable with low employment opportunities. He is also the prime network in the NGO to maintain a well relationship with current sponsors and the contact point for other interested parties in Nepal as a Secretary.

    Being tourism professional, Santosh Dhakal has been around at most of the places and possesses insight stories of those rural areas. Originally, he is from Gorkha district and had interest in working at NGOs from the start of his career. He has got an in depth knowledge of trekking trails, mountains, ographical location, local cultural, festivals and traditions. He actively takes part in organizing and carrying out all of our social events and programs.
     
    Santosh is a passionate dreamer of giving something back to the local community and Junkiri Nepal is the channel to achieve the dream !!

    Sharada Wagle; is a young, energetic, and an intelligent human being who enjoys serving others. She always had interest in working at NGOs and social organization since her graduation.  She completed her bachelor’s degree in Social Education from Tribhuwan University and possesses passion towards socio-economic and human cultural sectors of Nepal. She has deep knowledge and experience in eco-tourism as this has been her background area of study.

    Bishnu Bhatta is from Taple-7 village development committee, Gorkha district Nepal. He has a great interest to work and dedicate his efforts towards social organizations, Non Governmental Organizations and International Non Governmental Organizations. He is an energetic man and always ready to help whenever needed. We feel proud to have him as a part of our team.

    Born and raised at Pandrung-5, Gorkha, he came to Kathmandu in 2001 and got immersed himself in tourism field. He enjoys traveling and has been to most part of Nepal. After getting ground level insights of children living under extreme conditions, he always had a desire to do something for them by working on NGOs that dedicates its services for children rights and health. And being honest, dedicated and helpful person, he is a great asset of our team.

    Chhabi has been around strenuous and most remote areas of Nepal. Graduated in tourism management, he is open minded gentleman with internal desire to work for social organizations and NGOs too. He belongs from Sarsyun Kharka – 8 Village development committee, Kavre District and possesses helpful nature with active participation in events and programs.

    Mr. Neupane is the Active member of Junkiri Nepal  since its foundation in 2015. Mr. Neupane assumes the large task of managing the organization. Mr. Neupane has led change management programs involving organizational redesign, document  process reviews, board development, and leadership development, and has developed and implemented new project and program management approaches. He brings long years’ experience as a social mobilizer, trainer, educator. He is a highly skilled facilitator, coach and mentor.
